Loud Indians

I was in Turkey sometime back enjoying Samos at an Indian restaurant called Dubb...It was a most amazing experience with the Blue Mosque in  the backdrop.

As we were enjoying the food we see three young girls walk in and they were wondering what to try... We were quite amazed, while the one of them smiled at us and said...Why are Indians so loud? I was taken away by surprise since we did not realise were that loud...moreso because we in our own mind believed that we are the young modern travelling Indians who were well versed with the mannerisms and global expectations.

When I returned back to India this question got stuck in my head, Are we Indians really loud? And if yes why are we loud?

I have then been observing things around and here are some of the astonishing examples suggesting us why we behave in this manner? 1) speaking loudly in public places like restaurants, gardens or the trains 2) The morning cacophony with Chai wala or bhaji wala... And even the bollywood songs or even the news channels.

Surprisingly, this is exactly opposite to what we as a culture believe in. What we read about the meditations, yogas and what ancestors used to follow.

Cacophony: What does it mean....Bursting crackers during festivals and weddings, loud bhajans and the jagrats. What does loudness suggest? What does it reflect?

Let's look at the animal kingdom and the closest of all the examples is the way langoors or the chimps react...They make typical noises that suggests grief or even cheerfulness. However, we can argue stating that's their way of communication.

So what is it?

That is true but I think Americans are pretty louder than us. Europeans might be more sophisticated but we Indians are definitely not as loud as americans are.
Even when on their phones they are so loud that you can hear their whole conversation.
